Friends and Relatives
It is hard to describe the difference between friend and relative. Is a friend a person that is always there when you need them? Is a relative the little guy down the street that calls you Grandpa because both of his have passed away? Can a friend be a relative? Can a relative be a friend. Is the daughter of a friend who calls you Grandpa Jerry out of respect a friend or a Relative?
Our dictionary describes a friend as "one attached to another by affection or regard; an intimate: An acquaintance" a member of the same nation or political group.
It describes relative as "having relation to or bearing on something; close in connection; pertinent; relevant; not absolute or existing by itself; a person connected by blood".
It further describes friendship as a "relationship of mutual regard; a feeling of liking and esteem".
I feel that this page could be better described as "Friendships".
I think that anyone reading this Web Site will soon come to the conclusion that I am not much of a "writer", I want you to enjoy reading it so please disregard any spelling or structure errors. There will be pictures with very little information, and information without pictures, please advise me so I can correct it.
I have many Step Brothers and Sisters (mother married several times), but to me they are either brother or sister, do not be confused by the name.

Harold West
t
![]() Yep, it's me. Have you been good
I first met Harold through the VFW and we became close friends. He was a very active individual and was always there to give a helping hand. Harold played Santa Clause for the Beloit Cosmopolitan for about 25 years. At one time or another, he has held all offices in both the VFW and the Cosmopolitan. In all the years that I knew Harold, I never heard him raise his voice in anger or frustration.
After 40 some years of this, it is hard enough to remember my own name, so if I am incorrect concerning when and where the events took place, or even names, please forgive me (Be a lot smarter than what I am and write something on the reverse side of the picture, Event, Place, Who and When). I do remember having good times and a lot of fun.
